Commonly Asked Questions
1.WHAT HEALTH TESTING DO WE PROVIDE FOR OUR ADULT/BREEDING CATS?
All adult cats receive the following:
-Cardiac echocardiograms by boarded veterinary cardiologist prior to breeding and as advised for serial monitoring
-Genetic screening including PKD ( polycystic kidney disease). All breeding cats are cleared negative for all genetic markers including PKD
-FELV/FIV negative cattery
-Routine fecals including fecal float/fecal cytology and fecal PCR
2. HOW ARE KITTENS RAISED?
Kittens are weighed, observed, and socialized closely throughout development from day one. We focus on calm handling, household exposure, grooming introduction (nail trims and brushing), and confident transitions. Because our cattery is veterinarian-owned, health decisions are made carefully and with a strong preventive mindset. That does not mean perfection can ever be guaranteed in a living animal, but it does mean we take our responsibilities incredibly seriously and structure our program accordingly.
LOTS OF SOCIALIZATION:
grooming , nail trims, baths as needed (not usually required for adult cats but kittens can be messy), cat carriers played in daily, vacuuming, cleaning, you name it (our cats love the vacuum and flock to it), dogs, cats, kids, family members. They are raised under foot as part of our family

5. WHAT IS THE COST OF A RETIRED ADULT?
-This depends on the age, sex, and health. Most range from 1400-1800.
-Adults come “fixed” (spayed or neutered) and up to date on vaccines for 3 years
-Most are spayed/neutered before 3 years old.
-We are small volume so this also means we dont have retired cats readily available. Often times we retire one-two cats per year at most.
-We may retire one fawn female in late 2026
6. HOW DO YOUR CATS LIVE?
Our cats are not used solely for breeding. This is not an operation to us. This is not a way to monetize or exploit our fur babies (cats). They are our PETS FIRST. I will do ANYTHING FOR THEIR WELL BEING AND HEALTH! They free roam our house. They are never caged. Our boy(s) have a beautiful room for when the girls are in heat. Their room has lots of enrichment, cat walls, jungle gyms, and they free roam with us when we can carefully monitor and ensure no accidents occur.
7. DO YOU ALLOW HOME VISITS?
Sadly, NO! We do not allow home visits as their health and safety are our priorities
8. HOW DOES THE WAITLIST WORK?
-in order that they are received. You can request sex/color/hairlength. We will inform you if a certain coat length/color/sex is currently closed. We cap our waitlist.
-you pay the price agreed upon for the year you join the waitlist (sometimes we have price increases from year to year to help with rising costs of food and vet care)
-inquiries must include name, occupation, rent or own? (if renting do you have permission to have a pet?), information about other pets in the house, do you have cats? If you don’t would you get two? (cats do better with a friend)
-If we choose your family to welcome one of our kittens, next steps are a signed agreement and 300 deposit
-we believe in transparency and will always keep an open line of communication and expectations of breeding plans.
-SUBMIT A 300 waitlist deposit which is applied to the kitten price. (it is later subtracted from total price of kitten)
9. WHEN CAN I PICK OUT MY KITTEN?
-Around 7-8 weeks old by videos and photos. We then send videos every 2.5 -3 weeks (Megan works very long hours every other week) , more if able. Kitten care and our jobs take up a lot of time so we provide updates frequently but can not promise them all the time because we prioritize hands on care. We provide real life, around the house video updates. Not staged photoshopped images.
-At this time, you will leave the remaining deposit for your kitten totally half of the overall kitten price.
10. WHEN DO KITTENS GO HOME?
-At least 12 weeks old. Recommended by veterinarians and TICA standards. They are a slow growing breed. They take 3-5 years to fully mature so the first 12 weeks are critical to stay at home with their mama and continue to nurse. They also socially adapt better and bond stronger with their new family when they remain with mom and us until at least 12 weeks old.
11. DO YOU ALLOW BREEDING?
-NO. This is not for the faint. We do not want our kittens exploited or irresponsibly bred.
12. DO YOU REQUIRE PET INSURANCE LIKE OTHER ETHICAL BREEDERS?
-YES. THIS MUST BE PURCHASED 15 DAYS BEFORE KITTY GOES HOME. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. MEGAN IS A ER/ICU VET. SHE SEES PUPPIES AND KITTENS IN THE ER FOR BEING DROPPED AND BROKEN. FREAK ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. Illness and accidents are most likely to occur in the first 3 years of life. We recommend that you keep the policy throughout the entirity of your pets life but we require a 2 year policy (not all paid up front but we use the honor system).
13. DO YOU EVER HAVE KITTENS LEFT OVER FROM THE WAITLIST?
-Rarely. We do close the waitlist early so that the last person has a few kittens to choose from . However, if any remain ( people sometimes choose more than one) then they are rarely ever available for more than 24 hours as we receive many messages for them.
14. DO YOU SHIP CATS?
-NO. NOT TYPICALLY. But, Sometimes I will fly them to Phoenix on a special occasion. If this is done, the cost is $350. (airline charges $150 for cat carrier (up to 2 kittens) and I charge $200 (regardless if one or two kittens) for my time)
15. WHAT DO I DO IF I LIVE OUT OF STATE?
Let me know where you reside when you reach out. I will meet you at the Denver International Airport. Together, we will plan a date for pick up so that I can ensure my availability to meet you at the airport. You will bring an airline approved soft carrier that you place at your feet. Most airlines charge 100-150 for the carrier (up to 2 kittens depending on the airline.) You will always call the airline at the time of booking to reserve their spot on the plane. Some airlines only allow a maximum amount of pets so we want to make sure you are all set for your trip back home.
16. DO YOU ALLOW DECLAWING?
-NO and its illegal in many states. This is amputation of their proximal digits (bones). British cats are not destructive cats in general.
17. DO YOU RECOMMEND THE FIP OR FIV VACCINES?
-NO, in general there is not enough benefit as compared to risk for these vaccines.
18. WHAT VACCINES DO YOU REQUIRE?
-FVRCP (RCP) and RABIES
19. DO YOU ALLOW YOUR CATS TO GO OUTSIDE?
-Direct supervision only. Cat stroller/harness walk once over 6 months and fully vaccinated is allowed. NO FREE ROAMING : This is dangerous for both trauma/death/fatal infections/diseases.
20. WHAT VET DO YOU RECOMMEND IF WE LIVE IN COLORADO? CAN WE BRING OUR CAT TO YOU?
-At this time I only practice critical care and emergency meaning I do not work at a facility that sees pets for wellness so cannot offer general wellness visits. :(
-I recommend googling feline veterinarians or feline only vets in the area if you are looking for a vet and are not already established somewhere. Google is a great tool.
21. WHERE DO YOUR BREEDING CATS ORIGINATE FROM?
-We have very carefully vetted and formed close relationships with a few select European breeders who share the same beliefs in health testing and have award winning champion lines for breed standards and quality. GRAND CHAMPION HEALTHY LINES.
-We do keep back a kitten from time to time to watch them grow in our cattery and if they clear all medical testing, they stay with us.
22. HOW LONG ARE QUEENS (MAMA CATS) PREGNANT?
-9 weeks
23. HOW OFTEN DO YOU BREED A FEMALE?
-AT MOST ONCE A YEAR!! BREEDING IS EXHAUSTING. Although our girls LOVE being mamas their bodies need recovery. Just because a cat can breed more often than that doesn’t mean that they should.
24. WHAT DO THE CATS EAT?
-We believe in HIGH QUALITY NUTRITION. We do not skimp on anything! Our families will receive a full handout of foods that we feed. We use high quality Orijen Kitten kibble and purina pro plan kitten (chicken/rice) kibble, tiki baby mousse, Hills kitten wet food, tiki stix, churus, purina hydracare packets, vital essentials treats, and many meats.
25. WHAT ARE THEIR FAVORITE TOYS AND THINGS?
- They love being pet, snuggling on top of us or next to us, following us around the house helping us unbox and clean things, watching CAT TV on Youtube, playing with electronic toys, small little pom poms and spring toys.
26. ARE YOUR CATS CUDDLY?
YES! VERY! 99% of our kitties are very cuddly and or like to follow us around and help us “clean” and unbox everything! They love affection, pets, brushings, and cuddles. 50% cuddle on top of us and 50% snuggle up next to us or around our heads.
27. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BSH/BLH TO REACH FULL SIZE?
3-5 years!!! They are a very slow growing breed.
28. WHAT EYE COLORS DO YOUR CATS AND KITTENS HAVE?
- GOLD, COPPER, YELLOW, AMBER SHADES! (We do not have genetics for blue or green or any other color)
-WE ONLY BREED CLASSIC GOLD VARIATION EYE COLORS!
29. WHAT DOES DAY TO DAY LOOK LIKE?
-Our cats are free roam with the exception of the boys having their own jungle gym room for when the girls are in heat. But, they are still let out to be with us when not sleeping or gone. Kittens and mamas have a private nursery room (for peace and quiet) where they begin in their own welping boxes, then transition to LARGE playpens until it is safe for them to free roam the nursery with TONS of cat walls and swings. Once a little older, the kittens have free roam of the house when we are home/not sleeping. Tucked into their nursery for safety at bedtime and or if we leave the house (very rarely). They are with us almost all of the time. They receive TONS of attention are INCREDIBLY AFFECTIONATE kittens because of this
